Oracle Card Guidance in Reiki Sessions
“Nothing lasts, but nothing is lost. Seek the lesson, and you will find yourself.”
— Jennifer Sodini
Oracle Cards are part of my daily/weekly routine and my way of accessing my intuition. It helps me develop a deeper connection with my inner- knowing. I work with different decks and all of them have a unique yet beautiful energy. The first deck I owned was Oracle of Fairies by Karen Day. I’ve always been drawn to the enchanted world of Fae and felt that the deck was perfect for me. The messages were lovely, straight to the point, and easy to understand. The exact right cards always seem to show up when I need them in every reading that I do for myself. I continue to be amazed by this wonderful divination tool that can point me in the right direction when I am at a crossroads. I always invite my spirit guides and angels to be present with me as I ask a question and draw a card, while shuffling the deck. The cards act as a beacon of guidance and inspiration, aiding me in facing life's challenges while keeping me aligned with my spiritual journey.
During my Reiki sessions with a friend, I started seeing in my mind’s eye a certain deck that was calling to be used in her session. I pulled it out and drew a card, which turned out to be an answer to something they were dealing with and aligned perfectly. I know that at first glance, both Reiki and Oracle Cards appear as separate forms of practice. However, they are both rooted in helping to restore balance by revealing energetic and emotional patterns. They both help in the healing process and reveal what needs to be worked on. I believe the insights that the cards provide allow the practitioner to focus the Reiki healing energy more intentionally during a session. They can also be helpful after a session by providing guidance and integrating any energetic shifts that happened. Clients can reflect on the message of the card by journaling and meditation.
The combination of oracle cards and energy healing provides a powerful experience for your client. Integrating oracle cards can be seamlessly blended into your Reiki practice as a pre-session intention setter, energy anchors during your session and post-session discussion tools after the healing experience.
There are some practices that I follow while working with Oracle cards during a client session. The most important one of them is to keep them clear! Intuitive tools, just like our hands, hold energy. I clear my decks using Reiki symbols, sage/ Palo Santo smudging or simply by knocking on the deck between clients. I also maintain boundaries to the best of my ability. That means that oracle cards are meant for reflection and self-empowerment. I use it as a supportive tool rather than seeing it as fortune telling.
I discovered that incorporating oracle cards into my healing practice is truly invaluable. These cards act as a potent instrument for seeking insight, guidance, and inspiration, facilitating a deeper and more meaningful connection with the spiritual realm. Whether I’m working with clients or exploring my personal path, the use of oracle cards can be a profoundly transformative experience.
